For an international asset manager we implemented a customized online tool to make it possible for them to create their own credit ratings for all debtors in their investment universe of European banks. By comparing the credit ratings to the CDS spread of the banks, the client is now able to obtain, buy and sell signals in addition to a fundamental downside risk indicator. We stayed in close contact with our client by using these four key steps:
1. Identifying and listing the data and data sources;
2. Developing and defining the logarithms and indicators (amongst others a stress test);
3. Developing the online interface based on the needs of the client;
4. Writing a user manual and providing in-house training.
The entire process, from idea to implementation, took less than two months.
